In addition to our 4G and 5G mobile phones, Newcastle Connect uses a POCSAG paging service to alert our staff when there is an issue with our telecommunications services. Paging transmitters receive their data from satellites so they aren’t dependent on mobile networks or NBN, they are ideal to deliver mission critical alerts in a guaranteed and timely manner and continue to work during a natural disaster.
It is important that Newcastle Connect utilises a secondary alerting channel as we provide support to medical and other life-supporting organisations.
Unfortunately at the end of 2020, Vodafone will close their POCSAG paging network.
Our proposal
- We would like to know if another organisation is planning to replace the closing POCSAG paging service when the Vodafone system shuts down as would love to use your network.
- If no other organisations are planning to run a wide-area network we will install our own transmitters in the Hunter Region.
- We are happy to chat to organisations in other areas who with to form a network with operators in other regions.
If a paging service based on the POCSAG protocol interests you, please call us on 02 4929 1050.
